How I identify my kids on this blog...

Okay, so I am inconsistent...I just can't seem to pin down how exactly to refer to my kids on this blog. I have done it a couple of ways so far...so here you go. Of course, those readers who know us can figure out who I mean when I use their initials, which is my most common way to identify them here. The other way will be to refer to them as #1, #2, #3, #4 and #5. Otherwise known as J, S, T, K, and C. I probably just added to the confusion. Oh well.

Who is stupid...

After his brother called him stupid #3 said something to the effect of... "Nobody is stupid, not even me! Only dummies are stupid...They are FAKE humans!"

A recent prayer of our 2nd Son

included the following things. "Please help no one in my family to die unless they get too old." "Please help no one in my family to get eaten by wild animals." "Please help Mom and Dad to not go broke." Ah the honesty of an 8 year old.

Favorite Christmas List Item

When making his Christmas List T said: A Jet Pack, if they would just make one!

Family Pets

Five little boys are dangerous to family pets. Our pets consist of a parakeet and a snail. And the boys each have a virtual pet that they can feed, and play with online. See the sidebar to visit with their virtual pets. The nice thing is that even if these pets get ignored for long periods of time...they come out okay.

The Definition of Damaged

Setting: A family home in Rural Oregon. Five loud boys are noisily romping around. One of the boys (T) gets upset and hurts one of his older brothers (S). Screaming and crying ensue. T continues to try to beat S to a pulp. Dad: Go to time out. You already damaged him now stop hurting him and go to time out! T: He's not even bleeding! Thus...there is no damage without blood.

Why A Daily Dose of Mischief?

Because I can...although I probably won't...not daily anyhow. I am starting this little blog to record some of those daily joys that come from being the Mom of five boys. I expect the entries to be generally shorter than on my other blog...and not on a daily basis. But A Daily Dose of Mischief just sounded better than...Weekly Dose, Monthly Dose or some other quantity. I don't plan to get too philosophical about this little blog. It's for posting amusing, frustrating or otherwise interesting things that my kids do or say. Now if only they would do something interesting today...I suppose I can always think back on fond rememberences of mischief past.
